Apple will be upgrading its OS version to the latest very soon.Once a new software release from Apple took place ,a series of people from jailbreak community will do a crack on this OS. what's the advantage of this cracked version? Why people are taking lot of pains and Hardship for this activity.
The answer is quite simple ,since iOS is not an open source software like Android we can't install our propriety software into Apple device. All the apps has to come from App store ie Apple's pre approval is needed.Think of a senario like you want to install a software like a VLC player (plays video of any format),you can't install this software unless and until you jailbreak your device.Jailbreaked iOS device gives you full access (root access) to unlock all features for this operating system.
For user's jailbreaking is an obvious bliss because they can install software's from Apple and also from any other third party software via installers such as Cydia.Apple doesn't want this because they don’t want to loose control over there software because hardware is a onetime cost [u buy the device on its selling price] but software is a recurring revenue[every time u install a paid app from appstore ,u have to pay]
News are there that Apple is putting measures into place to make it more difficult for iOS 5 users to rollback to earlier versions of iOS.Once you try to jailbreak your device and something goes bad in between ,u need to rollback to an earlier version.If you cannot roll back to a previous working version you device wont work or doesn’t even boot properly.But remember that the jailbreak teams are smarter and are countless ,they will providing tools so that users can jailbreak their devices.
With iOS 5, Apple is changing the way that the blobs[Secure ID derived from the device's unique chip ID (ECID) and the firmware ID]are created. The blobs will be regenerated every time a device is rebooted, meaning that simply having an old version of the key around won’t allow users to install an older version of the software.Also from iOS 5 onwards its over-the-air which means OS upgrades will take place once your device is connected so that Apple can revert back the jailbreak version to a normal version very easily.
The frontrunner's are the iPhone Dev Team releasing a jailbreaking application called PwnageTool and then Chronic Dev Team with Greenpois0n Tool. They uses a graphical user interface to jailbreak the IOS devices.
