Android is an open-source software stack for mobile devices from google. phone manufacturer can use Android without expensive license fee from Google since it is Open(Android open-source project). Manufacturer can modify Android without restriction, allowing it to fit the device they are making and also these phones can use over 150,000 apps available in Android market.Most mobile manufactures like LG, Samsung, Acer, HTC uses Android phones. Android currently representing over 40% of all smart phones purchased in US market.It seems very likely that the iPhone will be removed by Android in the coming year if this trend continues.In order to prevent the inevitable, Apple Sues Android Phone Makers one by one. In march it sues HTC for "infringing on 20 Apple patents related to the iPhone's user interface, underlying architecture and hardware.In April Apple sues samsung telling that the Galaxy's design features, such as the look of its screen icons, make it look like an iPad.It also added that Samsung chose to copy Apple's technology, user interface and innovative style like the idea of square icons with rounded corners. Apple is getting increasingly scared that Android will take its iPhone and iPad market share away and is suing anyone who uses this operating system.
