Until recently many people consider nokia as a synonium for mobile phones. Nokia ruled the world of smartphone market as a legend for many years is loosing its shares to key players like Apple, HTC and samsung.
Every quarter nokia eradicates its sales by above 25% compare to its previous quarter.This make competitors like Apple and Samsung surpass Nokia. Looking into the statistics Nokia managed to ship 16.7 million units in Q2 2011 where as Apple shipped 20.3 million iPhones. Samsung's results are yet to be announced but everybody knows Samsung will hold the second position due to its overwhelming sales of galaxy phones.
How long Nokia can withstand this competition.Nokia doesn't have any key device in market. The latest N9 is a failure, Nokia had shutdown symbian development,Nokia's windows phone is yet to show its capabilities. Nokia's ovistore generate little revenue compare to Apple's iTunes revenue
There are speculations that nokia will sell out its mobile phone business to Microsoft or Samsung but Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has denied such rumours quoting that“Those rumours are baseless”. Mr Elop confirms that Nokia is not for sale.
