The main features in Windows8 whis is drawing considerable interest in Microsoft's words are called as Live Tiles, blocks of on-screen real estate that serve up live information from email, messaging services, social media platforms, and other sources of content and data, depending on the user's preference. Windows 8 will also include a direct link to an applications store, a feature that will make the OS seem even more smartphone like in its design and utilization. Windows 8 is a radical reinvention of Microsoft's operating system.
By the intoduction of Live Tiles the existance of the Start button and menu, an iconic part of Microsoft's operating system is removed.The button evolved to become the operating system's 'launchpad', offering access to software, files and search functions. Navigation is done by swiping a finger across a touchscreen - although you can also use a mouse or even the direction keys.
With Live Tiles, Microsoft is aiming two products in mind: one that runs on traditional desktops and laptops powered by AMD and Intel, and one that is designed to run on tablets.
